Over the last few weeks, we’ve had a lot of past clients reaching out to us wondering what they can do to get their homes ready to sell this spring. Here are a few quick tips to help you do just that:

1. Enhance your curb appeal. Make your home look great from the outside. Make sure your lawn is freshly mowed, trees and shrubs are trimmed, and flowerbeds are deweeded and mulched. If there is any peeling paint, we recommend putting a fresh coat on.

Give your home a familiar scent like vanilla, pine, or citrus.

2. Depersonalizing and decluttering. As you walk through your home, you need to look at it through the eyes of a prospective buyer. Personal photos and knick-knacks can distract buyers, as can bulky furniture. Put all that stuff in storage and create a minimalist look for your home.

3. Cleanse your home’s smell. Bad odors can certainly deter buyers. Make sure your home smells nice and clean, but don’t overdo it. Go with a familiar scent such as vanilla, cedar, pine, or citrus. Citrus has actually been shown to boost a home’s perceived value to a homebuyer.

If you have questions about how else you can get your home ready for sale or anything else concerning real estate, don’t hesitate to reach out via phone or email. We look forward to hearing from you.
