Fort Campbell Army Post, a World Class Community, is home to the 101st Airborne Division Air Assault - the Screaming Eagles, as well as to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, the 5th Special Forces Group and the 31st Military Police Detachment. It is sitting on Kentucky-Tennessee border, at Exit 86 on I-24, located between the towns of Clarksville, TN and Hopkinsville, KY. Fort Campbell is about 50 miles from Nashville and just 45 minutes away from Nashville International Airport.

Fort Campbell offers a lot of work opportunities making it a great place to live for soldiers and their family members. It is, by a long way, the largest employer in Tennessee and Kentucky areas. Besides the 30,400 soldiers on post that are the most evident labor force at Fort Campbell, it also provides work for 5,100 civilians in the area. The most common employment sectors are Retail Trade, Manufactory, Education Services, Administrative, Support, Health Care and Social Services, and Waste Management and Accommodations and Food Services.
Another great program offered at Fort Campbell is their Employment Assistance for Spouses. It provides employment, seminars and training assistance to military spouses on and off installation aiming to help them with career establishment and development.

Fort Campbell Access
Fort Campbell is a restricted access post. All residents above 16 years old must provide photo identification before they are allowed to enter. Gate 4 and Gate 7 are open to people driving to Fort Campbell. They must present a proof of insurance, current registration and valid license to drive onto the installation. Same documents are necessary for people using a motorcycle, but the valid license must have an “M” designation and riders must wear complete protective gears.

On and Off Post Fort Campbell Military Housing
If you are PCSing to Fort Campbell, the military provides two options for the use of your Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH). You can either live on post or use your BAH to rent or purchase a home in the nearby areas.
4,000 homes on post provide housing to all ranks, and you can get houses with size ranging from 2 to 5 bedrooms. Fort Campbell requires all soldiers to apply in person at Fort Campbell Family Housing Office and family members living with them may apply for residency. On post renting is also available. Fort Campbell also provides temporary lodging for visitors. The installation has four Army lodging facilities with a total of 413 rooms offered. If you are interested, reservations should be made at least 14 days in advance.
If you prefer living off post, a lot of housing opportunities are available in the areas around the installation. A lot of military families find buying a house much more cost-effective than renting.
